We're looking for an innovative and team-oriented Senior Combat Designer to help us bring the magical world of Xadia to life in our new multiplayer game based on the Emmy® Award-winning Netflix series, The Dragon Prince!

As a Senior Combat Designer, you will work closely with our Design and Engineering teams to create compelling gameplay systems, abilities, and synergies that deliver an engaging, fantasy-focused combat experience and prioritize cooperation and mastery. 

The ideal candidate has both the design skills to wow players and the technical skills to bring ideas from thought bubbles to full implementation in game.

You Will:

  • Design and implement enemies and epic boss fights that excite and challenge players, both individually and cooperatively
  • Implement enemy behaviors and abilities using UE4 and our proprietary scripting language
  • Drive collaboration in multi-disciplinary feature teams
  • Review feedback and data to make key decisions that will keep combat varied, balanced, strategic, and fun
  • Collaborate with fellow designers to create a cohesive overall experience

You Are:

  • Passionate about creating an exciting combat gameplay experience for players
  • Able to work effectively as an individual and also collaboratively as part of a team
  • Adept at effectively communicating your ideas across disciplines
  • Dedicated with a strong sense of ownership and a high personal quality bar

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a combat designer
  • Shipped at least one title in a role where you implemented the behavior logic for enemies
  • Exceptionally strong scripting abilities and deep understanding of state machines
  • Knowledge of cooperative multiplayer gameplay

Desired Qualifications:

  • Unreal Engine 4 experience
  • Experience with text-based scripting language

The annual base pay range for this position in Los Angeles, California is $80,000 USD - $140,000 USD. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and overall experience. In addition to base pay, all full-time positions will receive equity, flexible PTO, unlimited sick leave, parental leave, a full range of medical, dental, and vision insurance, and relocation support as part of the overall compensation package.
